2012 Heroes with Heart Selected for Public Awards Gala

HEAL board members have completed the evaluation of the 2012 Heroes with Heart nominations that were submitted this year for consideration. Twelve winners were chosen from the community at large and a HEAL Advocate Hero was chosen from the Nest staff. The thirteen winners will be honored on Sunday, March 4 at 2PM during the Heroes with Heart Awards Gala at Mountain Annie’s.

“The Heroes with Heart celebration is our thank you gift to the community. At HEAL, we are sustained and inspired by our community heroes,” says Julie Gilliland, event chairwoman.

KBUY morning show host Perry Champion is slated to co-host the event along with HEAL Executive Director, Coleen Widell. It will include an afternoon tea with pastries and confections from Cornerstone Bakery and live entertainment by local musician, Tomas Vigil.

On hand to present this year are Heroes with Heart winners from 2011; Pastor Tim Gilliland, Jimmie Goodwin, Debbie Haines-Nix, Selena Chino, Deborah Rogers, Yvonne Sanchez, Joan Zagone, Linda Henderson and students from the Ruidoso High School SADD club as well as Heroes with Heart winners from 2010; Victor Montes and Barbara Mader.

Jamie Estes, HEAL Board President and owner of Mt. Annie’s, predicts a strong turnout. “We are certain the many friends, family and co-workers of our Heroes will come out to help us celebrate their amazing contributions to our community.”

The event is free and does not require tickets or reservations. However, if you would like to reserve a table for six, please call Susanne Francis at the Nest at (575) 378-6378.

BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT
The Nest is fortunate to have many friends in the business community. This week, we would like to extend a special thank you to Ruidoso High School teacher Stacy Wren. Mr. Wren, with technical prowess and skill, was able to complete and launch our new HEAL website at www.helpendabuseforlife.org. Thanks, Stacy!
