HEAL’s Heroes with Heart Nominations Now Open!

2013
Pictured are the 2013 HEAL Heroes with Heart winners: Cheryl & Pete Blanchard, Dorlynn Simmons, Godfrey Gomez, Smokey Bear Hot Shots, BIA Mescalero Agency & the Fire Team at Ski Apache, Brendan Gochenour, Teambuilders, Lisa & Carl Bartley, Kristyn Arnold, Dr. Stephen Rath, Perry Champion, Harlan Vincent, and Corina Montoya.

Honoring those in the community who go above and beyond in helping others is the foundation of the Heroes with Heart awards. “This is an annual event sponsored by HEAL as a way to give back to our community,” HEAL board member Lynn Crawford said. “People in the community nominate someone who has done something extraordinary for someone or something in our community.” Past nominees have been individuals, animals, groups, organizations, businesses and churches.

“HEAL has been blessed with much kindness and support throughout the year,” said Crawford. “This is important because we encourage others to illuminate special heroes who do remarkable things in Lincoln County and Mescalero, but who are often in the shadows, quietly impacting the lives of others without any acknowledgment or recognition.”

Each year, artist Alice Warder Seely creates a special HEAL Heroes with Heart medal that each recipient receives. Additionally, Governor Martinez pens a special letter of congratulations for the recognition.

Anyone may nominate a recipient for the Hero with Heart award. The simple nomination form is available on the HEAL website at https://helpendabuseforlife.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/HWH-Nomination-Form-2014.docx. Forms may also be picked up at The Nest, Sweet Charity or at all of the local radio stations in town.

The deadline for nominations is fast approaching – it is this coming Monday, October 20. To fax a nomination form, send it to: 575-378-1027. To email a nomination form, send it to: coleen@aidv-usa.com.

The HEAL Heroes with Heart Awards Gala will take place Sunday, October 26, from 2 to 4pm at the Foot of the Cross church, formally known as Mountain Annie’s. Admission is free. The public is invited to come celebrate Lincoln County & Mescalero Heroes!
