Help End Abuse for Life, Inc. (HEAL) will be holding its annual fundraiser this August. The Deacon Bob Open is a popular charity golf tournament, offering a summer escape to the cool pines of Ruidoso. The event is named after the late Deacon Bob Racicot of St. Eleanor Catholic Church, who served on the HEAL Board and was instrumental in orchestrating the first event.
The four-golfer scramble is scheduled for Saturday, August 5th with a 1:00 p.m. shotgun start and will be held at the Inn of the Mountain Gods’ Championship Golf Course. Attendees will play 18 holes on the breathtaking course designed by Ted Robinson, which is nestled among tall pine trees under the majestic Sierra Blanca peak and features meticulously manicured, tree-lined fairways, a beautiful island fairway and fast-breaking greens. Truly, a golfer’s dream course.
HEAL is grateful for this year’s hole sponsors: Sierra Blanca Motors, Brunell’s Sportswear, Copperleaf Landscape Management, Pavelka’s Sleep & Comfort, Josie’s Framery, LaGrone Funeral Home, Fusion Medical Spa, First Alarm & Security, Zia Natural Gas, Windstream Communications, Ruidoso Ford-Lincoln, Don & Nancy Lincoln – Coldwell Banker SDC, Marge Woodul – Caldwell Banker SDC, Flash Quality Hunts, ENMU-Ruidoso, FastSigns, City Bank Ruidoso, Sierra Blanca Pharmacy, The Agency, and Mortgage Pro.
“We are especially excited about the raffle(s) we have set up for this year’s event,” explained Shannon Silva, HEAL Board Member. ”Alan and Patty Russell have generously donated an awesome hour-long helicopter ride. The winner and one guest will take the ride in a Robinson R-44 helicopter and experience the exciting and breathtaking views of the Ruidoso Valley.”
Additionally, the tournament will feature many fun contests, including longest drive, closest to the pin, pick-a-club challenge, and of course a hole-in-one opportunity to win a Jeep from Sierra Blanca Motors.
The $125 entry fee includes green fees, cart rental, refreshments, and a golfer goodie bag. The raffle will feature several rounds of golf at some of Lincoln County’s finest courses as well as offerings from businesses in Lincoln County.
Unlimited mulligans will be available for purchase at $5 each – it is a fundraiser, after all! All of the proceeds benefit The Nest, Lincoln County’s first and only domestic violence shelter in Ruidoso Downs.
A BBQ dinner and awards ceremony will be held on the new deck at Apache Tee, with sweeping views of the course. The dinner for tournament participants is included in the entry fee and family members are invited to attend for an additional, nominal fee.
