Local Musician Donates Talent to Charity Events

By HEAL Staff Writer Jessica Martinez

Musician Tomas Vigil came to Lincoln County from Albuquerque with his wife, Ruth, in 1994.  He has been working full-time with Windstream Communications since 2001.  “I tell many people that my full time job supports my music habit,” Vigil joked

Tomas and Ruth have three grown children, 2 daughters and a son, and four grandchildren, whom Tomas describes as “the light of our lives.”  A family man, Tomas also recently spent some quality time with his 92-year-old father during his annual “migration tour” back to Texas for the winter.

Tomas has generously volunteered his time, providing musical entertainment for multiple events to support The Nest domestic violence shelter, including the Empty Bowl, Heroes With Heart, and the newest culinary event, Savor the Flavor.

“It is not really a service that I provide because the events usually have some great chefs involved with good food!” Vigil explained.  “Every event that I am able to attend has been lots of fun.”

“We are so lucky to have been able to enjoy Tomas’s extraordinary musical talent at many of our events,” said HEAL board member Lynn Crawford. “We are continually inspired by the the dedication and generosity of community members like Tomas who answer the call to help, time and time again.”

“Mine is  a small contribution but I know it helps The Nest to be able to continue to help survivors of abuse and I will always be there to support them,” Vigil concluded.
