Middle School Student “Makes a Difference” at the Nest

An 8th grade student at Cloudcroft Middle School selected the Nest Domestic Violence Shelter in Ruidoso Downs for her charity activity.
Chanupa Gallerito told the Nest Operations Director Carrie Calkins that her teacher, Kathy Miller, challenged the students in a project called, “What the World Needs Now.”
Gallerito went to the internet to research community needs and found the Nest website.  She said, “I was excited about making a difference in other people’s lives.”
She delivered two large boxes filled with stuffed animals and toys for the children at the shelter, diapers & baby wipes and toiletries for the Moms.
The Nest is operated by local nonprofit Help End Abuse for Life.  It is located at 26374 US Highway 70 in Ruidoso Downs.  All services are free and confidential.
