Vehicle Donation Program Benefits the Nest

Help End Abuse for Life (HEAL) and The Nest Domestic Violence Shelter are proud to announce their partnership with America’s Car Donation Center.  The Center accepts used vehicles – running or not – such as cars, trucks, boats, trailers, RVs and motorcycles and sells them, returning the proceeds minus a nominal processing fee to The Nest.
According to HEAL Vice President Josie Powell, “This is a great program that allows someone to donate an older car or truck or RV and help the shelter at the same time.  The process is quick and simple, and run by professionals.  HEAL has an all-volunteer Board of Directors that oversees the operation of the Nest in Ruidoso Downs and we greatly appreciate this fundraising tool.”
If you have a vehicle you would like to donate to benefit The Nest, call the shelter at 575-378-6378 to speak with Sue Francis.  Sue will connect you with a car donation facilitator, who will take a few minutes to gather information on the car.  The Center will make arrangements for a local professionally licensed, bonded and insured towing company to pick up the car.
It is a good idea to have the vehicle title and any keys in hand to expedite the donation.
You will receive a receipt when the car is picked up.  In addition, you will be notified by HEAL when the car sells and of the donation amount given to the Nest on your behalf.  HEAL will provide a written tax receipt for your accountant or CPA.   It’s that simple.
Two local residents have already participated in the HEAL Vehicle Donation Program.  Local restaurant owner, Debbie Gomez of Cornerstone Bakery, and Linda Pribble of the San Patricio Retreat Center each had an older vehicle they wanted to donate and contacted HEAL to kick-start the program.  Many thanks to Debbie and Linda for bringing forth another great way of supporting the shelter.
America’s Car Donation Center was established in 1992 and is the oldest and most trusted car donation choice for non-profit organizations and philanthropic individuals alike. The Center helps over 2,000 non-profit organizations annually to further their missions, thanks to generous car donation donors. To date, the program has processed over 1 million vehicles.

Business Spotlight:  Local resident John Johns recently bid on and won a beautiful framed picture called “Winter Moon” during a silent auction to benefit the Nest.  While making arrangements to pick up the picture, Johns offered to donate cases of meat products to the shelter, later sending pre-cooked bacon and seasoned taco meat to be enjoyed by the resident of the Nest.  His generosity is deeply appreciated!
