Sandy Tubb wins the 2016 HEAL Vacation Raffle. Ruidoso Race Track and Casino generously hosts the raffle drawing luncheon.
The MCM Elegante Lodge and Resort donates items to Sweet Charity to be sold to benefit the Nest domestic violence shelter.
Kevin began helping at the shelter by volunteering to do yard work such as weed eating and tree trimming. That work evolved into fixing broken items, transferring the shelter’s considerable recyclables to the recycle plant and moving heavy items.
Sweet Charity continues to be a clean retail shop with high-quality, gently-used items. Local photographer Pat Deleon Brent has photoshoot to show off some awesome clothing found at Sweet Charity.
Science teacher Yelena Temple and the Ruidoso Middle School Student Council collected toiletries and donated them to the Nest.
HEAL & The Nest receive donations from the Korean Women’s International Network of Albuquerque, the Garland Street Church Sunday School Class from Plainview, TX, and Building Communities that Support Children’s Reading.
LCAL’s volunteers are trained in one-to-one tutoring and offer those services free of charge to adults 18+ in Lincoln County and Mescalero. “The program’s purpose is to improve quality of life for individuals and the betterment of the community,” explained Program Coordinator Deborah Abingdon.

The Deacon Bob Open is a very popular summer charity golf tournament held in the cool pines of Ruidoso and is now open for registration.
