The Foxworth-Galbraith Home Improvement Center has been a fixture in the Lincoln County community for decades. The Ruidoso store supplies lumber, building materials, tools, paint and fixtures to local contractors and do-it-yourselfers alike. They are also grateful to their customers and supportive of community charities.
As a way of thanking their loyal customers, Foxworth-Galbraith recently held a customer appreciation golf tournament at Rainmakers in Alto. The event was free for the participants. Just for fun, they offered mulligans for sale. The mulligan funds, which amounted to over $450, were donated to the Nest Domestic Violence Shelter.
General Manager Cesar Olvera explained, “We chose to donate to the shelter because of the amazing things going on down there.” He first learned HEAL & The Nest from a member of his church, Deacon Bob Racicot.
Deacon Bob, who passed away in 2013, was an active member member of the HEAL Board of Directors from 2007 to 2012, helped establish HEAL’s annual golf tournament (now called “The Deacon Bob Open”) and shared his experience working with the women and children of The Nest with nearly everyone he came into contact with.
“We were quite surprised when Foxworth-Galbraith called and said they had a donation for The Nest from their tournament,” said Operations Director Susanne Francis. “The funds will help The Nest with expenses that arise in the shelter, including supplies like baby formula and diapers as well as fun and educational field trips for the kids. These flare-up fundraisers are genuinely appreciated and make a true difference in the lives of the women and children survivors of domestic violence in our community.”
