HEAL will soon have an updated logo made to catch the public’s eye. Graphic artist Matt Eller has taken on the project of the redesign with the help of HEAL executive director, Coleen Widell. “I was working on pro bono projects at the time and Coleen was very articulate about her vision for HEALs’ branding,” Eller said. Together they are collaborating on an ideal logo that Widell had envisioned.
Eller is a freelance graphic designer who recently graduated from Vanderbilt University. He found HEAL on the website, Pimp My Cause. The site pairs technology and design professionals with non-profit organizations to bolster their marketing, advertising and more. Eller adopted HEAL and has made it his mission to help the organization.
The new logo will be part of a current movement where designs are clear-cut. “I want HEAL to be a part of this viral trend while better emphasizing the healing, sheltering nature of the company,” Eller said. With a new logo, HEAL hopes to impact the community instantly. “The concept can be used to fuel the media or to stigmatize people,” Eller said. “HEAL actually helps victims.”
The redesign process is important because logos are often the element that people in the community remember most about an organization.
“Non-profits need proper branding to be taken seriously,” Eller said. “In fact, good causes need professional branding the most because the message can be as important as the work being done.” Eller also said he took on the project because HEAL is a solid cause with a solid
purpose.
HEAL is in the process of updating all of its messaging components. Additional logos for Sweet Charity Resale Boutique, as well as the numerous HEAL events, will have refreshed logos and messages. The original HEAL logo was designed by charter board member, Laura Price Reynolds, owner of PricePoint Creative.
