The Nest continues to expand its online presence to educate the public about domestic violence and the services available at the shelter. And now, in an effort to make it easier for people to donate online, The Nest has set up a Wish List on Amazon. The list contains items that are needed in the shelter for daily operation or for specific clients.
HEAL office manager Sue Francis says the wish list gives people a way to avoid the hassle of buying the items and dropping them off at the shelter. “You don’t have to leave the computer to be incredibly helpful,” she adds.
The Universal Wish List on Amazon will even allow area residents to shop at Walgreens if they prefer not to shop online. Shelter Supervisor Terri Thompson explains, “Every client is unique and it’s impossible to have everything on hand. This wish list provides us the ability to easily modify the list of shelter needs, which are always changing. Last week, we had a client who needed a charger for her laptop to be able to continue her online education and today one of our baby monitor’s broke.”
“The first item received off the wish list was a pair of child’s slippers. They literally went from the Amazon wrapper on to the child’s feet,” says Thompson.
The NEST will be spreading the word about the donation opportunity through Facebook, Twitter, and the HEAL website at helpendabuseforlife.org. Business Spotlight
The Nest is fortunate to have wonderful friends in the local business community. This week we would like to thank The Art & Flower Nook in Ruidoso for so generously donating all of the carnations for our Heroes with Heart event.
