New Jersey College Student Designs Logo for HEAL & the Nest Annual Event

PimpMyCause.org is a website that connects non-profit organizations with marketing experts who have volunteered to help the agency address any number of marketing needs, including graphic design, networking, social media, web development and public relations.  Causes like HEAL can post “help wanted ads” requesting assistance with specific tasks to which professionals can then respond.  The site also has a listing of profiles of the over 1000 participating marketing experts.

HEAL and The Nest domestic violence shelter has utilized this beneficial service and has connected with marketing experts for help with their website www.helpendabuseforlife.org as well as for fresh ideas for logos from graphic design students and professionals.

Most recently, HEAL debuted its new Heroes With Heart logo, created by Allyson Galano, a senior Graphic Design major at Rider University in New Jersey.  “I became connected with HEAL and the Nest through the professor of my Advanced Publication Design class, Mary Boyer,” Galano explained.  “She’s had her fair share of multimedia design and is well familiar with ways to find graphic design contests since she’s been in the field for so long.”

The graphic Galano created is, like all good logos, simple and flexible, while embodying the medal given to Heroes with Heart award recipients in heart-shaped symbolism.  The original logo for Heroes with Heart was created by Michele Moroney of Bear Sky Graphics several years ago.

The 2015 Heroes with Heart Award Gala was held on Sunday, October 18th at Gateway Church of Christ in Ruidoso, New Mexico in recognition and celebration of 14 community members who have shown exceptional and unselfish caring for others.  The event is held annually in the month of October, which is also Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

“I think it is very important to do pro bono work for nonprofit organizations,” Galano said.  “I feel like it’s vital to give back to those who need it, especially when it comes to organizations I feel very supportive of.  I was raised to believe that giving back to a community is essential in bringing everyone together.  Even if it’s just something small, I’d like to do anything I can to do to help. For all the work I’ll be getting paid to do one day, I think it’s important to give a little bit back.”
