The Nest Quest: Are you up for the challenge?

On Saturday, September 20, several teams in the community will be embarking on an adventure.  Help End Abuse for Life (HEAL) is hosting The Nest Quest!  The event is filled with fun and innovative challenges at businesses throughout the Lincoln County community, which will serve as stopping points along the way.

Each team will be given a clue to a secret destination, where they will face a challenge that participants must complete. Once the fun task is completed, each team member must take a selfie and post it on the Facebook wall of HEAL. “The objective of The Nest Quest is primarily to raise awareness,” said Myranda Rodriguez-Waldo, HEAL’s event planner. “It gives participants and supportive community businesses a chance to take an active role in the mission to remedy this ill that touches so many of us.”

Once the Quest is complete, a celebration will be held for each team that completes the course.  The first team to arrive wins $500 cash, thanks to Ted Durham and Sierra Blanca Motors.

The Quest is sure to be one that participants of any age will enjoy. “The beauty is anyone can participate,” Waldo said. “A participant can be any age and with any skill-set, just as is the case with victims of domestic violence. Anyone can be affected by domestic violence and this event empowers all of us by giving everyone a role in stopping it.”

The majority of sponsors for the event are local business owners. The role of a sponsor is a very special one.  There are many benefits to giving; anyone with a heart to give can sponsor. A business can sponsor a team for $100 or they can sponsor the event with goods and services. There is nothing too small to make an impact.  Businesses that take part in the Quest will have advertising opportunities. “While the benefits of simply helping the cause are good enough, in this case, the giving happens to give right back to the business,” Waldo said.

Volunteers are still needed to make the challenge go smoothly.  Local clubs and organizations are invited to participate with a team or by working with us.  HEAL believes something magical happens when everyone gets together for the same purpose.  That is how The Nest was actually started.

With a goal of 20 teams, The Nest Quest is still seeking participants who are prepared to take on this fun challenge. Each team will consist of two to three people with a cost of $100 per team.  People interested in Questing for $500 can either pay the entrance fee or connect with a business that wants to sponsor a team.  For more information or to register, volunteer or contribute, call Myranda Rodriguez-Waldo at (575) 973-1385.
