A Sign of the Times

As the annual Deacon Bob Open charity golf tournament approaches each year, the need for hole sponsor banners and signs is always a pressing issue. This year, all of the signs are being made and donated by Fastsigns out of Midland, Texas. “We came into contact with the Nest as donors,” Fastsigns franchise owner, Mike Hogue said. Hogue and his wife Lana met HEAL Executive Director Coleen Widell at Chef JR Conley’s cooking class at the Sanctuary on the River. photo-013“Mike approached me at the class and asked if we do any HEAL fundraisers.  When I said “Oh, boy do we!” he offered to help with fun, creative hole sponsor signs for the Deacon Bob Open,” Widell said.  “Hogue told me The Nest gives Mothers a sense of comfort knowing their children are in a safe place and that mattered to him.” Hogue generously offered to make all of the signs for the golf tournament. “We do numerous golf tournaments, clay shoots and charity events in Midland and the surrounding areas,” he said. Hogue also pointed out that fundraiser events are a good way for advertisers to get their name out while helping a non-profit organization. “We do a first class signage to help create pride for the organization and its sponsors,” Hogue said. “We help instill a sense of pride in the fundraisers.” The signs and banners will be custom shaped into a golf image for the tournament. Hogue said the signs will get people excited about the same event next year and raise awareness as well. “The importance to me is to create anticipation for the years to come; where donors will call and ask can they confirm their participation in the event.”DBO Mike & Lana Hogue feel strongly about helping out at charity events. “We do several charities in a number of different ways,” Hogue said. “In the case of The Nest, I want to help create an event locals are invested in and want to be a part of,” he said. This years’ Deacon Bob Open will take place on August 9th at the Inn of the Mountain Gods.  It is a 4-golfer scramble with a 1pm shotgun start.  To register, go to the HEAL website: https://helpendabuseforlife.org/registration/.
