Dear Editor

The Nest is a place that many women and children have called home since March 2007. The Lincoln County shelter operates on the generosity and kind hearts of so many people. Our annual charity golf tournament, the Deacon Bob Racicot Open, brought together many important people to raise money and awareness for the Nest.

The success of the event can be attributed to the generous donations, sponsors, volunteers, supporters and golfers. The event was held at the Championship Golf Course at the Inn of the Mountain Gods with the assistance of PGA professionals Daniel Nunez and Phillipe Cordero and their team.

Several surrounding golf courses also participated by donating raffle prizes. The Links at Sierra Blanca, Cree Meadows Country Club, Rainmakers Golf Course and Alto Lakes Golf & Country Club also participated by donating round of golf and raffle prizes.

Eighteen local businesses each sponsored a hole. Friends of HEAL also donated time, talent and funds to put on the event.

HEAL thanks the 120 golfers, some of whom traveled over 200 miles to support our cause. Many golfers were repeat supporters, having played in the inaugural HEAL at the INN last year.

The support of our community is a testament to our community’s commitment of HEAL’s mission to end abuse. HEAL and the Nest is thankful for the support; each supporter makes a difference in the stand against domestic violence. It’s encouraging to know that we can count on our community, and we appreciate your continued support.
