Board Vice-President Spotlight: Pamela Lancaster

Second-year HEAL Board Member Pamela Lancaster tells us about herself, why she was drawn to volunteer with HEAL & The Nest Domestic Violence Shelter, and what she hopes to accomplish during her time on the Board.

Interviewer: Tell me how you first got involved with HEAL & The Nest Domestic Violence Shelter.

Pamela Lancaster (PM): I was contacted by a colleague and asked if I would be interested in being a part of the HEAL board. After being provided information on the mission of the HEAL board and the Nest domestic violence shelter, I was enthusiastic to become part of such a great organization.

Interviewer: How long have you been a member of the Lincoln County community? 

PL: I have lived in Ruidoso for more than 5 years. Where did you live before living here (if applicable)? I lived in Lago Vista, TX before moving to Ruidoso.

Interviewer: What was your first impression of HEAL?

PL: HEAL is an organization with strong desires to improve the lives of domestic violence survivors. Their desire to improve our community and their teamwork to achieve their goals makes them a first class organization.

Interviewer: What do you wish other people knew about HEAL?

PL: I would like other people to know that HEAL provides services that improve Lincoln county through supporting domestic violence survivors. The leadership team demonstrates integrity and dedication in meeting the needs of the residents of the Nest.

Interviewer: What are some of your strongest beliefs about HEAL/The Nest/domestic violence?

PL: I believe through supporting survivors of domestic violence and educating our community, we can reduce the incidence of domestic violence and raise community awareness.

Interviewer: What might our readers be surprised to know about you?

PL: I have an identical twin sister that I love to travel with. I have 3 adult children and 3 grandchildren that I am extremely proud of. My youngest daughter is in the US Navy and serves aboard an aircraft carrier. I am currently continuing my education and will complete my master of science in nursing degree in December of 2022.

Interviewer: What do you do when you aren’t volunteering as a Board Member for HEAL? 

PL: I enjoy traveling, shopping at thrift stores and garage sales, cooking, gardening, being outdoors, and going to church.

Interviewer: What are you looking forward to most about this coming year for HEAL?

PL: I am looking forward to the various fundraising events for HEAL and increasing community awareness about domestic violence in the coming year. HEAL provides a positive impact in my life and in the community.
